This year, the theme for Wangari Maathai Day is Reimagining the Future: Clean and Green Cities for All. Build Back Better! We intend to draw attention to the urgent need for green, safe, clean, resilient, accessible, culturally relevant and sustainable cities that meet the needs of all urban residents as encapsulated in SDG 11. In our view, Michuki Park is an ideal venue for our celebrations, as it is a model park that demonstrates the viability of creating socially just, climate smart recreational spaces open to all Nairobi residents.
